Evan Low is the President & CEO of LGBTQ+ Victory Fund. A California native, Evan’s career reflects a steadfast commitment to public service, including over a decade in the California State Assembly, where he has led groundbreaking efforts to ensure marriage equality, protect LGBTQ+ youth from so-called conversion therapy, preserve LGBTQ+ rights, and grow economic opportunity. Evan made history as the first Asian American elected to the Campbell City Council and as the youngest openly LGBTQ+ mayor in the nation. A former Bohnett Fellow and past Victory Institute Board of Directors member, Evan embodies Victory’s mission and long-held dedication to expanding LGBTQ+ representation. His leadership and service have been widely recognized, earning him multiple “Legislator of the Year” honors and a proclamation of “Evan Low Day” from then-San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom.
Daniel Hernandez is an award-winning lawmaker, author, and steadfast advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. He served on the Sunnyside Unified School District Governing Board in Tucson, where he worked to create safer, more inclusive environments for LGBTQ+ students. As a former legislator and congressional candidate, Daniel earned recognition for his unwavering commitment to advancing LGBTQ+ rights. He was a vocal advocate for anti-discrimination legislation, healthcare access, and policies that prioritized the well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals, especially youth. Daniel’s work as a lawmaker earned him several awards, underscoring his effectiveness and dedication in pushing for progressive change. As an author, he has written extensively on issues related to LGBTQ+ rights, social justice, and the need for intersectional advocacy in public policy.
Orie Givens is the Vice President of Communications at LGBTQ+ Victory Fund and LGBTQ+ Victory Institute. Orie has spent nearly two decades in journalism, media, and communications, informing and inspiring audiences through all types of media. Orie also worked as a journalist reporting on LGBTQ+ communities, social justice, government and politics, and small business. He previously worked as a video journalist and digital content manager for Spectrum News and was The Advocate’s first correspondent to focus on the intersection of race, ethnicity and LGBTQ+ identity.
