Washington, DC – Today LGBTQ Victory Fund – the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ leaders to public office – endorsed 19 more LGBTQ candidates for the 2021 and 2022 election cycles. Among them are two candidates for the U.S. Congress – Jasmine Beach-Ferrara (NC-14) and Sean Meloy (PA-17) – and Arizona Attorney General candidate Kris Mayes. Also endorsed were 15 state and local candidates with 2022 races and Rob Grilley, who is in a 2021 runoff election for Albuquerque City Council. Victory Fund has now endorsed 48 candidates with 2022 races.
Mayor Annise Parker, President & CEO of LGBTQ Victory Fund, released the following statement about the new endorsements:
“The 2022 election cycle presents enormous opportunities for our community, including the potential to dramatically increase the number of LGBTQ people who serve in state legislatures and electing a historic number of LGBTQ people to the U.S. Congress. These LGBTQ candidates are the antidote to the poisonous anti-LGBTQ legislative and political attacks we’ve seen grow over the past year – making it essential we invest early to help them win. As elected officials, they will be the frontline in efforts to defend our community and ensure debates and policies are inclusive of LGBTQ people.”
