Washington, DC – Today LGBTQ Victory Fund, the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ leaders to public office, endorsed 22 more out LGBTQ candidates. Victory Fund has now endorsed 336 candidates running in the 2022 midterms.
Candidates given Spotlight status include Jennie Armstrong and Andrew Gray running for the Alaska House of Representatives. If elected, Armstrong would be the first out LGBTQ woman and Gray would be the first out LGBTQ man ever elected to the Alaska state legislature.
There are more out LGBTQ candidates running in the 2022 midterms than in any other election cycle in U.S. history. To gain equitable representation, we must elect over 35,000 out LGBTQ people to office.
Mayor Annise Parker, President & CEO of LGBTQ Victory Fund, released the following statement about the endorsements:
“The people we elect to office this cycle will decide what our kids are able to say and read in school, what health care decisions we can and cannot make about our own bodies and whether marriage equality remains the law of the land. Our community is eager and motivated to make our voices heard at the ballot box and make it abundantly clear we will not – cannot – go back. It is encouraging to see a record number of LGBTQ people stand up and run for office in the wake of so much anti-LGBTQ rhetoric. Running in every corner of our nation, they are experienced, they are fearless and they are hell-bent on fighting for a more equitable and inclusive future.”
