Washington, DC – Today LGBTQ Victory Fund, the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ leaders to public office, endorsed 31 more out LGBTQ candidates. Victory Fund has now endorsed 237 candidates running in the 2022 midterms.
Candidates endorsed today include Christian Manuel Hayes, who would be one of the first out LGBTQ Black members of the Texas legislature. Hayes was given Spotlight candidate status. Jolanda Jones, who would be the first out LGBTQ Black woman elected to the state legislature, was elevated to Spotlight candidate status.
Mayor Annise Parker, President & CEO of LGBTQ Victory Fund, released the following statement about the endorsements:
“The Rainbow Wave continues to gain momentum, fueled by voters’ resounding excitement to elect public officials that reflect the diversity and strength of our country. This is a testament to the hard work of out LGBTQ elected officials fighting for and enacting public policy that represent the interests of all people, especially traditionally marginalized communities. It is also a testament to LGBTQ activists and grassroots organizers changing hearts and minds in every corner of our country. With so much at stake, this is truly shaping up to be the year of the LGBTQ candidate.”
