LGBTQ+ Victory Fund proudly endorsed 264 LGBTQ+ candidates in 37 states this year, with 171 appearing on ballots in the 2025 General Election. This is the highest number of LGBTQ+ candidates endorsed in a non-federal election year, with 253 as the count in 2023.
LGBTQ+ Victory Fund’s 2025 endorsements already count several wins ahead of Election Day, including Gina Ortiz Jones, now mayor of San Antonio, TX, San Diego County Supervisor Paloma Aguirre, Delaware State Senator Dan Cruce, and Birmingham, AL School Board member Antwon Womack, and others. Cruce, Aguirre, Jones and Womack all made history in their respective elections. Cruce is the first out gay man elected to the Delaware State Senate. Womack is the first Black out LGBTQ+ leader elected in Alabama, and Jones is the first out lesbian mayor of San Antonio. Aguirre is the first out LGBTQ+ Latina elected to the San Diego Board of Supervisors.
Several other LGBTQ+ Victory Fund candidates are also poised to make history with wins on Tuesday or maintain a key history-making presence in government.
- Texas State Rep. Jolanda Jones is running to represent Texans in the United States
- Erica Deuso and Jasmine Preston could be the first transgender women elected to be mayors in Pennsylvania.
- Joshua Cole is running for reelection to the VA House of Delegates. Cole, along with seven other LGBTQ+ Victory Fund candidates, could help grow Virginia’s LGBTQ+ legislative caucus.
- Alejandra Salinas will make history as the first LGBTQ+ Latina elected to the Houston City Council.
- Jim McGreevey is running to be mayor of Jersey City. He would be the first gay man elected to lead the city.
- Luanne Peterpaul is running to maintain her seat in the New Jersey Assembly after becoming the first LGBTQ+ woman elected.
