All other public events through April 15 will be postponed due to COVID-19
Washington, DC – Today LGBTQ Victory Fund, the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ leaders to public office, announced it will postpone all public events through April 15 out of concern for the health and safety of its supporters. This includes its National Champagne Brunch in Washington, DC, the organization’s largest fundraiser, which provides crucial resources for its efforts to elect openly LGBTQ candidates across the country. The National Champagne Brunch will now be held on Sunday, June 21.
Victory Fund will continue to monitor CDC and other guidelines related to COVID-19 in making decisions about public events after April 15.
Elliot Imse, Senior Director of Communications at LGBTQ Victory Fund, released the following statement about the postponement:
“During this time of uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, LGBTQ Victory Fund’s number one priority is the health and safety of our community. This unfortunately means we will postpone all our public events through April 15, including our National Champagne Brunch, which attracts more than 800 guests each year. It is rescheduled for Sunday, June 21.
“There is no denying it: The National Champagne Brunch is our largest fundraiser of the year and the postponement puts enormous pressure on our team and our candidates in the middle of the campaign season. With a historic number of LGBTQ candidates running for office and asking for our endorsement, we are determined to continue working at full capacity to ensure this historic opportunity is not lost. But additional resources are critical in the coming months, so we are asking those who support our mission to become members of LGBTQ Victory Fund today by going to victoryfund.org/donate.”
The new event date is on Father’s Day because of the extremely limited number of dates that were available to reschedule. Victory Fund will be sure to honor the fathers in attendance.
As of today, Victory Fund staff is working remotely, but the organization is fully executing on its regular work.
Questions about the event can be sent to Daniel Gugliuzza at daniel.gugliuzza@victoryfund.org.
