Washington, DC – Today, LGBTQ+ Victory Fund – the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ+ leaders to public office – welcomed two new members to its Board of Directors, Matt McDermott and Twaun Samuel. McDermott joins the board as an ex-officio member in his capacity as the incoming co-chair of the Victory Campaign Board, of which he’s been a member since 2018. Samuel has been an active supporter of LGBTQ+ Victory Fund as a member of the Victory Campaign Board and as a leadership team member for Victory Action’s New York chapter.
Mayor Annise Parker, president & CEO of LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, issued the following statement:
“It’s an honor to welcome Matt and Twaun – two world-class strategists – to the Victory Fund Board of Directors. While we don’t expect the legislative and political attacks on our community to slow down in 2024, we’re grateful to Matt and Twaun for doubling down on their support as we head into another consequential election cycle. These leaders know that we cannot afford to backtrack on the progress our community has made. I look forward to working more closely with both Matt and Twaun in the months ahead.”
Matt McDermott is a pollster and strategist, who serves as Senior Vice President of Whitman Insight Strategies. Twaun Samuel is a public policy advocate, serving as Senior Vice President for Government, Public, and Regulatory Affairs at Moody’s.
