Washington, DC – Today LGBTQ Victory Fund, the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ leaders to public office, welcomed Pita Juarez (she/her/ella) as the organization’s new Vice President of Communications. A queer immigrant woman from Guatemala, Juarez is a filmmaker, strategist, storyteller, organizer and creative based in Phoenix, Arizona. She most recently served as National Communications and Creative Strategies Director at Chispa, a Latinx organizing program of the League of Conservation Voters, where she helped elevate communities of color working in climate justice at national and local levels. Her work has been featured in National Geographic, CNN Latino, NPR and Univision to name a few.
“Pita is a natural leader, community organizer and media expert with a long track record of non-profit advocacy supporting a variety of causes centered on creating a more equitable society. We are thrilled to have Pita take the helm of our communications efforts as we scale our impact, including historic investment in communications support for LGBTQ candidates who continue to face a dynamic and often challenging media environment,” said Mayor Annise Parker, President & CEO of LGBTQ Victory Fund. “With more and more out LGBTQ people running for office and winning each year, we are confident Pita will help countless LGBTQ candidates and leaders change hearts and minds through effective storytelling and creative communications.”
“I’m thrilled to bring my expertise in film, media and issues-based advocacy to LGBTQ Victory Fund. As a storyteller, I’m honored to uplift candidates and leaders from across the country and world in these critical times. Representation matters as LGBTQ leaders around the world will no longer be ignored. We know our issues are not siloed, we are all interconnected, and I can’t wait to help tell that story,” said Juarez.
