Washington, DC – Today LGBTQ Victory Fund and LGBTQ Victory Institute announced the appointment of three new members to the governing boards of the organizations: Kevin Morrison to the One Victory Board of Directors, David Reid to the One Victory and Victory Institute Board of Directors and Alex Slater to the One Victory and Victory Fund Board of Directors.
“Our boards of directors are among Victory Fund and Victory Institute’s most prized resources – a committed group of public leaders who recognize that LGBTQ political power comes through representation in government,” said Mayor Annise Parker, President & CEO of Victory Fund and Victory Institute. “Kevin, David and Alex have brilliant and busy careers but continue to lead in the fight for LGBTQ equality in their communities and beyond. All three will be tremendous assets to the organizations and we will no doubt be stronger because of their thought leadership and engagement.”
Kevin Morrison is serving his first term as Cook County (IL) Commissioner in the 15th District. In November 2018, Kevin made history by becoming the first openly LGBTQ Cook County Commissioner, at 28 years old the youngest in history, and the first Democrat to represent the District. Prior to his election, Kevin acquired years of public service experience with different candidates and elected officials, including a leadership role on the Hillary for America campaign. He helped solve constituent issues, perform community outreach, and worked to bring people together around a common cause.
David Reid is a Senior Policy Advisor at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck and brings a wealth of on-the-ground policy and finance experience to his government relations work. A seasoned campaign veteran, David joins the firm from Hillary for America where he was the Washington, D.C., and PAC finance director. His efforts raised a record-breaking $30 million from the D.C. and PAC community during the last election. Before joining Hillary for America, David was the Mid-Atlantic finance director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, ran the political finance operation of a Fortune 100 global healthcare company and served as the deputy finance director of the Democratic Governors Association.
Alex Slater is the Founder & Chief Strategy Officer for Clyde Group, one of the top boutique media and public affairs firms in the United States. He was the first hire at the now widely respected Glover Park Group, leaving a decade later as Managing Director. In 2011, he was tapped to grow a public affairs practice at SKDKnickerbocker. In those roles, he advised clients on some of the most complex media and communications challenges of the past decades. He went on to found Clyde Group in 2014. He previously wrote a regular column for The Guardian newspaper in London, and his work has also been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times.
