Gloria would be first openly LGBTQ person elected mayor of San Diego
Washington, DC – Today LGBTQ Victory Fund – the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ leaders to public office – announced it is endorsing California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria for mayor of San Diego. Gloria would become the first openly LGBTQ person and first person of color elected mayor of San Diego. He is considered the frontrunner in a three-candidate primary to take place in March 2020.
Mayor Annise Parker, President & CEO of LGBTQ Victory Fund, released the following statement about the endorsement:
“Todd is an exceptional public servant with a long record of improving the lives of his constituents – and that experience will be invaluable when he is elected mayor in 2020. From clean water to traffic congestion to civil rights enforcement, big city mayors impact the lives of residents in ways no other elected position does. It is Todd’s lived experience as an openly gay man and a person of color that will shape his inclusive and values-driven approach to tackling those big issues, and as mayor he will ensure that no residents are left behind.”
