Race/Ethnicity of LGBTQ Candidates: 2018 – 2020

LGBTQ candidates are significantly more diverse than candidates overall – with LGBTQ candidates of color representing 31 percent of all LGBTQ candidates in 2020. Candidates of color represented just 10 percent of all candidates who ran in 2018, the most recent year for which data is available.
