LGBTQ Victory Fund staff joined the DC Pride parade to march with our candidates!
Zachary Parker
DC Council
In a crowded primary for D.C. City Council Ward 5, Zachary Parker emerged victorious. Zachary has represented Ward 5 on the DC State Board of Education since 2018 and has served as the Board President since 2021, when he was unanimously selected by his peers. Despite the homophobic attacks Parker endured during the campaign, he is set to secure the seat in November’s general election and make history as the first out LGBTQ Black member of the D.C. City Council.
Imani Barnes
Georgia House of Representatives
Imani is a public health Ph.D. candidate at Emory University and a youth development coach vying to represent the community that raised her in DeKalb County. Last year, Imani advanced to a runoff election for a seat on Tucker City Council but came short by just 62 votes. She defeated her opponent by an impressive 25-point margin and will be welcomed to the Georgia legislature in 2023, expanding LGBTQ representation to the body!
