Biography
Amber is a 21-year Ypsilanti resident, first gen Japanese-American, lgbtqia+, millennial, 18-year renter and 3-year homeowner, three-time city official, musician, gardener, and 8-year political organizer and advocate. Amber has served 6 years in city government as chair of the Human Relations Commission and 220 N Park Community Benefits Agreement Committee, and on the Housing Affordability & Accessibility Subcommittee. As a public servant Amber has demonstrated a commitment to dismantling existential threats Ypsilanti faces including systemic racism, homelessness, environmental catastrophe, poverty, community violence, and other forms of oppression.
