Biography
Marianna Anaya was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico by her mother, grandmother and eight aunts. She has spent her career as an organizer and advocate, leading legislative efforts to repeal the 1969 abortion ban, pass the Voting Rights Act, expand the Human Rights Act, protect Gender Affirming Care and advocate for Paid Family Medical Leave. Throughout the years, Marianna has been fearless in her approach to addressing systemic issues that face our communities today- such as poverty, homelessness, and lack of access to healthcare. She dreams of a fully funded, robust, public education system that affirms and supports every student that walks through the door.
