Biography

Charissa Huang is an attorney with a demonstrated record of service and community leadership, who is running to serve as 17th Circuit Court Judge in Kent County, Michigan. She grew up in West Michigan, earned two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Michigan, and her law degree from Northwestern University. Following completion of her law degree, she returned to West Michigan to practice law. Charissa and her wife, Lindsay, live in the Creston neighborhood of Grand Rapids. Clients Charissa has represented include people in a wide variety of civil rights matters involving race, gender, disability, religion, sexuality, due process, and free speech issues, numerous non-profit organizations, and a variety of businesses of all sizes.

Charissa has served on the boards of the Grand Rapids Pride Center and the Grand Rapids Public Schools Foundation, as a Trustee of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, and as a member for the OutPro Council of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce. She has also been the recipient of numerous honors for her work, including being named a “Top Lawyer” on multiple occasions by Grand Rapids Magazine, and a “40 Under 40 Business Leader” by Grand Rapids Business Journal.
