Biography

Eleanor Moreno is a dynamic community organizer and advocate, currently serving as the Strategy Manager for the Kent County Food Policy Council. With a commitment to social impact and community empowerment, Eleanor’s work revolves around building a sovereign food ecosystem and fostering deep connections through food and storytelling.

An active member of several key organizations, Eleanor is a Committee member of the Latino Community Coalition, the board President of the Grand Rapids Pride Center, and a board member of the Roosevelt Park Neighborhood Association. Their extensive involvement underscores a dedication to equity and inclusion across various sectors.

Eleanor’s impressive credentials include graduating from multiple leadership programs such as the Transformational Leaders program, Emerging Leader Program, and the Urban Policy Institute. Additionally, Eleanor has been recognized as a National Equity Fellow, Victory Empowerment Fellow, and was awarded the 2019 Advocate Award by the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Grand Rapids. They have also been honored with the 40 Under 40 recognition in 2020 and 2021, Queer of the Year in 2022, and Nonprofit Professional of the Year.

They actively contribute to the Roosevelt Park Neighborhood through their involvement with the SW Collective, striving to unite the community through conversation, service, and friendship.
Originally from Chicago, Eleanor now calls Grand Rapids home, where they enjoy spending time with family, friends, and their dogs, Bear and Winnie. Known for their ability to create memorable connections, Eleanor remains dedicated to nurturing community and empowering underrepresented groups through their leadership and advocacy.
