Josey Garcia, born on July 17, 1977, grew up with a spirit of resilience and a determination to break barriers. Josey developed a strong sense of duty and patriotism from an early age. In 1995, inspired by a deep commitment to her country, Josey enlisted in the United States Air Force. Her two decades of service were marked by dedication, discipline, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Rising through the ranks, Josey became a respected leader, earning accolades for her outstanding service and commitment to her fellow service members. Josey’s passion for equality and justice extended beyond the military. As an openly proud member of the LGBTQ community, she faced challenges head-on, contributing to the ongoing fight for inclusivity and acceptance within the armed forces. Balancing the demands of military life with her role as a mother, Josey exemplified resilience. She and her husband, Ramon, Together, they created a loving home for their eight children, fostering an environment where diversity was celebrated and individuality was embraced. Upon retiring from the Air Force in 2014, Josey did not rest. Driven by a desire to continue serving her community, she entered the world of advocay. In 2023, she made history by becoming the first woman veteran to serve in the Texas State House.
