Biography

Andrew Gray is a father, husband, health care provider, and Army veteran running to represent House District 20 in the Alaska Legislature. In 2022, he became the first openly gay man elected to the Alaska legislature. He served as co-chair of the House Freshmen Caucus which included Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, and made major strides toward more bipartisan cooperation. He carried two bills across the finish line his first term: one that requires everyone released from prison to have a valid photo ID and one that requires all points-of-sale for alcohol to post warning signs that alcohol can cause cancer, including colon and breast cancers. He served as a physician assistant at the Alaska VA and in the Alaska Army National Guard with whom he deployed to Kosovo in 2019 earning the meritorious service medal. He continues to work as a physician assistant at an Anchorage urgent care. He and his husband Jay are raising their son to be a true Alaskan with a love for the outdoors and an advocate for halting climate change. Andrew hosts a popular political podcast: “East Anchorage Book Club,” which features interviews from important Alaskans of all political persuasions.
