Ryan Hampton

Nevada State Assembly, District 9

Ryan will be an important voice for equality in the Nevada State Assembly!

Biography

I’m a small business owner, nonprofit founder, and community advocate who believes in the power of people to change Nevada for the better. My journey is deeply personal: I am a person in long-term recovery, and that experience has fueled my commitment to ensuring every Nevadan has access to the healthcare, housing, and opportunities they deserve.

My values were forged in a family rooted in organized labor. Raised by a mother who was a lifelong teacher’s union member and a father who was a Teamster, I learned the importance of “do-your-part” resilience at the kitchen table. Before becoming a national advocate in the recovery movement, I dedicated my early twenties to organizing for workers’ rights with SEIU and UFCW, helping nurses and retail workers secure fair treatment and the right to form a union. That same dedication led me to co-found Mobilize Recovery—now the nation’s largest advocacy nonprofit for people in recovery— and to serve as a representative for over 120,000 victims in the Purdue Pharma bankruptcy case after being appointed by the U.S. Department of Justice.

I’m running for the Nevada State Assembly because I know firsthand the challenges families face when the system fails them. Whether it’s fighting insurance companies for mental health parity, protecting the dignity of organized labor, or ensuring our neighborhoods remain affordable, I am ready to bring “can-do” leadership to Carson City. I live in Las Vegas with my husband, Sean, and our boxers, Quincy and Alfie, and I am committed to building a Nevada where everyone has the chance to thrive.
