Hunter was the first out LGBTQ+ person to serve on the Maranas School Board!
Biography
As the youngest individual ever elected to the Marana Unified School District Governing Board, I am deeply committed to enhancing the educational experience for students in our community. Having been a resident of Marana for my entire life, I have a unique and intimate understanding of the needs and aspirations of our district’s students and families. Currently a senior at the University of Arizona, I am proud to have been a product of the Marana School District, having graduated from Mountain View High School. This comprehensive education has instilled in me a profound appreciation for the integral role that our schools play in shaping the future of our community. In addition to my academic pursuits, I am honored to serve as a member of the Arizona CTE Quality Commission and the Marana Perkins Grant Committee. These roles allow me to contribute to the strategic enhancement of career and technical education within our state and district, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for the ever-evolving demands of the workforce. My passion for advocating for quality education transcends local boundaries, as I have also lobbied in Washington D.C. to champion reforms aimed at fostering a better educational landscape for all students. I firmly believe that every child deserves access to a high-quality education, and I am dedicated to driving positive change on both a local and national level. In all aspects of my involvement within the education sector, I strive to embody the values of integrity, compassion, and determination, working tirelessly to shape a brighter future for the next generation of leaders in our community and beyond.
