Jonathan will be one of the first two openly LGBTQ Raleigh City Councilmembers


Jonathan is an attorney and community organizer. For the past several years, he has worked to build safe, inclusive spaces for the LGBTQ community in Raleigh and in cities throughout the United States through an organization he co-founded, Stonewall Sports. Stonewall Sports is an LGBTQ and allied sports league in 15 cities.

In Raleigh, under Jonathan’s leadership, Stonewall Sports has planned service projects for the Tammy Lynn Center and the Raleigh Rescue Mission. Stonewall Sports has also raised tens of thousands of dollars for the LGBTQ Center of Raleigh and other local nonprofits.

Aside from Stonewall Sports, Jonathan helped create an annual fundraising event for the NC AIDS Action Network. He also helped create a program that provides free legal assistance to families involved in domestic violence actions in Wake County District Court.

Professionally, Jonathan is a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Family Law. He has been selected as a North Carolina Rising Star by Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers and elected to Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite in the categories of Family Law and Best Under 40 (“Young Guns”).
