Stephanie will be an important voice for equality on the Kenosha County Board of Supervisors!
Biography
Dr. Steph Knezz is an educator, scientist, and advocate running for County Board Supervisor in District 2 in Kenosha. Steph moved to Kenosha in 2018 after completing her PhD in chemistry at UW-Madison and starting my job as a faculty member at Northwestern University. For many years, Steph have been a vocal advocate for inclusive practices in scientific fields, to promote the participation and retention of scientists from historically underrepresented backgrounds (especially racial minorities, women, trans/nonbinary, and LGBTQ+ folks, and those from low-income households and first-generation college students). In science, the most innovative ideas result from collaborations among people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences. Steph believes that the same is true of governing bodies at all levels. Additionally, local government should represent the diversity that exists in the community itself. She believes the Kenosha County Board currently does not represent the diversity that exists in Kenosha County, and by bringing new perspectives into the decision-making process, she hopes to enrich the governing body and the decisions that it makes.
