Lane County Commission, District 3

She is the first out queer county commissioner to serve Lane County!

Biography

Laurie Trieger grew up in Philadelphia and moved to Eugene Oregon in 1987. She is the mother of two adult children and grandparent to twin boys. She was motivated to seek public office out of concern for the health and wellbeing of future generations. Prior to being elected Laurie enjoyed a 20+ year career in nonprofits focusing on local food systems, public health equity, economic fairness and worker rights, poverty reduction, and community improvement. She is just the sixth woman ever to serve on the Lane County board of commissioners and the first out, queer-identified commissioner. Laurie focuses on prevention and interconnection to address the local homelessness and housing crises, addiction and behavioral healthcare needs, and build community resilience. In addition to her role on the commission she is a Governor’s appointee to Oregon’s Opioid Settlement Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery Board and is a volunteer board director with the statewide organization Seeding Justice.
