Biography

Robert Aguilar Bulatao became a stay at home parent after his chronic leukemia diagnosis at the age of 26. Since then he hasn’t stopped working for the community. Being a cancer patient advocate, helping organize neighborhood cleanups, canvassing for local progressives, taking a position on the executive board of a non-profit music school, serving two years as the Parent Teacher Organization President for Garfield Elementary in San Leandro, showing up to rallies for the rights of the oppressed, and more have shown his consistent commitment to our causes. Currently Robert is running for City Council in San Leandro on order to address an unjust election system which violates the California Voting Rights Act, create housing stability for families to prevent further displacement, and create a better environment of public safety which doesn’t rely on over-policing. The main goal Robert wants to achieve is to lay the groundwork to remove big money influences on local elections so that we can have a city that’s accountable to their residents instead of trying to displace them to replace them with higher income earners.
