Biography

Tanya Vyhovsky is a clinical social worker and works primarily with adolescents and transition age young adults. Tanya ran for the Vermont House in 2018 because she did not see her life experience growing up in a poor single parent household represented and she certainly did not see the experiences of her clients represented. After completing graduate school and working for some time in private practice it become clear that she was offering individual solutions to systemic problems. Tanya lost her race to a long time incumbent in 2018 but ran again in 2020 and won and ran for State Senate in 2022 and won. In the Statehouse Tanya has continued to fight for the rights of those who are struggling under the status quo not only through legislation but by making sure they have access to share their own needs and experiences in committee rooms and all of the places polices are made. Tanya believes that when we center the voices of those closest to the problems facing us we can build an equitable, sustainable Vermont where everyone is welcomed and can thrive.
