Biography

Nicole Uhre-Balk is running for the South Dakota House of Representatives in District 32. Born on Rocking Chair Ranch near Rapid City, she is a third-generation South Dakotan who grew up hiking and climbing in the Black Hills. With a master’s degree in education and over a decade of experience teaching biology and computer science, she now mentors teachers across South Dakota and Wyoming. Nicole believes strong schools are the foundation for addressing almost any issue in the state. She advocates for balance through a stronger two-party system and more educators in the legislature. Nicole will champion the diverse concerns of District 32, including protecting the Black Hills, housing, addressing grocery and property taxes, and prioritizing personal health freedom. She aims to bring homegrown leadership from the classroom to the Capitol.
