Today Victory Fund announced that we are endorsing nine candidates for local office, including two transgender candidates. Six of these candidates hail from New York City and its suburbs.
Among the endorsees, two are transgender candidates for races in New York. Both would be the first trans candidate elected in New York state. Mel Wymore would be New York City’s first transgender city councilmember and Kristen Browde would be the only LGBTQ elected official in New Castle.
Outside of New York, Jenny Durkan is off to a racing start to become mayor of Seattle. Jenny was the first openly gay US Attorney and led the charge prosecuting hate crimes. She would be the first lesbian elected to this seat and the first woman elected mayor of Seattle in nearly 100 years.
Victory Fund has endorsed and worked with thousands of LGBTQ candidates to get elected to office at all levels of government. Check out our endorsed candidates here.
